The faculty of Law in Delhi University offers three year LLB degree course along with LL.M. and Ph.D. programmes.
Eligibility Criteria:
5 years LL.B Course
- Candidates must have completed 10 +2 from any recognized institution. Candidates appearing for their class 12 exams are also eligible for CLAT provided they produce their qualifying certificate at the time of admission.
- The minimum marks required to be eligible for admissions are – 50% marks in for General/ OBC/ EWS Categories, and 45% marks for PWD/SC/ST categories.
- There is no age limit for admission in this course.
LL.B Course
- The candidate needs to have a graduation/post-graduation degree from any of the recognised Indian/foreign University.
- The minimum marks required to be eligible for admissions are – 50% marks in for General/ OBC/ EWS Categories, and 45% marks for PWD/SC/ST categories.
- There is no age limit for admission in this course.
LL.M Course
- LLM is for Indian students.
- There is no age limit as to who can pursue LLM.
- A Three year/ Five year LLB Degree from any recognized Indian or foreign University as equivalent by the University of Delhi.
- For unreserved and EWS Category candidates, 50% marks and for SC/ST/OBC/CW/PwD Category candidates, at least 45% marks are required.
PHD Course in Law
- Candidates must have completed their LL. M. or equivalent degree.
- Candidates must secure a minimum of 55% marks in their Master’s Degree.
Exam Pattern:
- The test is conducted in online mode. Computer based exam (CBT)
- The candidates must reached on the designated exam centre.
- The examination duration lasting for 120 minutes (2 hours).
- The total number of questions are around 100 approximately.
- Each question will carry 4 marks and a negative marking of 1 mark is there in it.
Syllabus:
5 and 3 years LL.B
English: In this section topics include comprehension passages, grammar, vocabulary, synonyms, antonyms, etc.
General Knowledge and Current Affairs: Topics are related to awareness of current events, both national and international, along with general knowledge topics such as history, geography, economics, general science, civics etc.
Legal Aptitude and Legal Reasoning: This section questions may be based on in the study of law, research aptitude, legal propositions, comprehend legal principles, rules, and their application to given fact situations etc.
Analytical Abilities: The questions may be asked on identify patterns, logical links, rectify illogical arguments includes syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies, etc.
Postgraduate (LLM) Program-
For LL.M the questions may asked from various law papers such as, Jurisprudence. Introduction, Constitutional Law, Law of Contracts, Law of Torts, Law of Crimes, Environmental Law, Public International Law, Indian Evidence Act.
Law of Contracts: In this section topics may include on the principles and concepts of contract law, including formation, performance, breach, remedies, etc.
Constitutional Law: In this section, questions of the Indian Constitution, including its principles, fundamental rights, directive principles, separation of powers, etc.
Criminal Law: The questions may be asked on the basis of knowledge of substantive and procedural aspects of criminal law, including offences, defences, punishment, etc.
Jurisprudence: The topics may be came from various schools of jurisprudence, legal theories, and their application in legal reasoning etc.
International Law: This section basically focuses on the principles and concepts of international law, which includes treaties, statehood, jurisdiction, state responsibility, etc.
Property Law: The questions may be appear on property rights, ownership, transfer of property, and related legal principles etc.
Legal Reasoning: Similar to the undergraduate program, this section basically focuses on understand legal principles and their application to given fact situations.
Legal Awareness and Current Affairs: Topics may be discussed on the basis of recent legal developments and their ability to analyse various legal issues in the contemporary context.
Application Procedure:
- The application form will published on the Official Website of Delhi University- https://www.du.ac.in/
- Applicants can register their name after click on ‘New Registration’ tab.
- A new registration window will now open where the applicants must first fill the personal information with a valid email id and mobile number.
- The candidates have to fill their personal and academic details.
- In next steps applicants need to indicate their course preferences, college preferences and select their exam center.
- Once all information is correctly filled in, applicants must upload all the required documents in the given format.
- After that payment of Application Form fee must be done.
Application Fees:
- Candidates can pay the application fee using Credit Card/ Debit Card, Internet Banking or Demand Draft.
- Submit the application form after the payment is made.
- The fees for different categories are shown below.
- The application fee is Rs.1, 000/- (Rupees One Thousand Only) for general students, whereas for Gen-EWS/ OBC-NCL Students application fee is Rs. 800/-, for SC / ST / Third Gender Students application fee is Rs. 750 and for PWD Studen Students application fee is Rs. 700/- for LL.B Course.
- LL.M/ PHD application fees will be declared in the website.
Documents to be uploaded:
- Recent passport size photograph, size as specified (i.e. 50 KB) in .jpg/.jpeg/.png format only.
- Signature of the candidate, size as specified (i.e. 50 KB) in .jpg/.jpeg/.png format only.
- Self-attested identity proof of the candidate, size as specified (i.e. 100 KB) in .jpg/.jpeg/.png format only.
- Self-attested Class 10th Certificate (For Date of birth) of the candidate, size as specified (i.e. 100 KB) in .jpg/.jpeg/.png format only.
- Caste/ Reservation Certificate, if applicable of the candidate, size as specified (i.e. 100 KB) in .jpg/.jpeg/.png format only.
- CW and PwD Certificate, if applicable of the candidate, size as specified (i.e. 100 KB) in .jpg/.jpeg/.png format only.
Admit Card:
- The Admit Card/Hall ticket can be downloaded by the candidate by logging into his/her account from the official website.
- The date for downloading the Admit Card/Hall ticket will be intimated on the official website.
Results:
- The result will be uploaded on the official website – https://www.du.ac.in/
- Download the pdf and take a printout of it.
