The ground of “error of law apparent on the face of the record” is connected with the Writ of Certiorari.
Writ of Certiorari may be issued when the error is apparent on the face of record and not for a mere error of law. The writ is not issued for a mere wrong decision but for an error so glaring and obvious. This has been upheld by the Supreme Court in G Veerappa Pillai v. Raman & Raman Ltd, AIR 1952 SC 192; T C Basappa v. T Nagappa, AIR 1954 SC 440.
