ANDHRA PRADESH COMMON LAW ENTRANCE TEST DETAILS

 The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) will conduct the AP LAWCET 2025 exam for admission to 5-year LLB, 3-year LLB courses and LLM courses. 

Eligibility Criteria:

3 year LL.B. Course-

  • The Candidates should have passed any Graduate Degree (10+2+3 pattern) of a recognized University or any other examination recognized as equivalent by the Universities.
  • Percentage requires 45% for general category, 42% for BC category and 40% for SC/ST.  If any candidate secured less than 45%, 42% and 40% respectively in graduation.

5 Year LL.B. Course-

  • The Candidates should have passed two year Intermediate Examination (10+2 pattern) or any other examination recognized as equivalent by the University.
  • Percentage requires 45% for general category, 42% for BC category and 40% for SC/ST.
  • Eligibility criteria as per BCI regulations laid down by the BCI time to time.

2 Year LL.M. Course-

  • Candidate should holding 3 Year/5 Year LL.B. Degree on the date of application.
  • Candidates who have appeared/appearing for 3 Year/5 Year LL.B. final year examinations are also eligible. A candidate appearing for 3 Year/5 Year LL.B. Degree examinations may take the APPGLCET in anticipation of results.  However, the candidate shall have passed the qualifying examination with required eligibility at the time of counselling.

Exam Pattern:

AP LAWCET-

  • This is a Computer-Based Online Mode Test.
  • The Test consists of three parts.
  • Total number of questions will be 120.
  • 1 mark for each question.
  • The duration of test is 90 minutes (1 hour 30 minutes).
  • For 5 year Law Course, the standard expected is of Intermediate level / 10 + 2 and for 3 year Law Course, the standard expected is of Degree Level.
  • The Questions will be objective type including multiple choices questions, matching items. Each question contains four alternative answers and candidates have to pick up the correct Answer from among the choices given.
  • The qualifying percentage of marks in the Entrance Test is 35% (i.e. 42 marks out of total 120 marks). There will be no minimum   qualifying marks for S.Cs & S.Ts for ranking.

AP PGLCET-

  • This is a Computer-Based Online Mode Test.
  • A Single entrance test is conducted for all the courses of LL.M.
  • It is of 90 minutes duration (1 hour 30 minutes).
  • Total number of questions will be 120
  • Each question carry 1 mark
  • The test consists of two parts.
  • The Questions will be objective type including multiple choice questions, matching items. Each Question contains four alternative answers and candidates have to pick up the correct answer from among the choices given.
  • The qualifying percentage of marks in the Entrance Test is 25%. (i.e. 30 marks out of total 120 marks). There will be no minimum qualifying marks for S.Cs & S.Ts for ranking.

Syllabus:

AP LAWCET-

The Test is designed to evaluate the candidate’s General Knowledge, Mental ability, Current Affairs and Aptitude to pursue the study of Law.

Part–A: Consists of 30 questions from the topics related General Knowledge and Mental   Ability. 

Part – B: Consists of 30 questions from Current Affairs.

Part–C: Consists of 60 questions from the topics like Aptitude for the Study of Law., elementary knowledge of the basic principles of the Law and Constitution of India.

APPGLCET-

Part-A Consists of 40 marks

  1. JURISPRUDENCE: (20 Questions) Schools of Jurisprudence, Sources of Law: Custom Precedent and Legislation, Rights and duties, Ownership and Possession, Persons, Obligation, Property, Liability, Legal Sanctions.
  2. II) CONSTITUTIONAL LAW: (20 Questions) Nature of the Constitution: Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles of State Policy, Executive, Judiciary and Legislature, Center-State Relations, Emergency Provisions.

Part-B Consists of 80 marks

1. PUBLIC INTERNATIONAL LAW: (16 Questions) International Law and Municipal Law, State Territory, Air, Sea and Outer Space, Nationality And State lessness, Extradition, Asylum, State Jurisdiction, United Nations.

2. MERCANTILE LAW: (16 Questions) General Principles of Contract (Sections.1-75, Indian Contract Act-1872).

3. LABOUR LAW: (16 Questions) Trade Union Act 1926, Industrial Disputes Act 1947.

4. CRIMES and TORTS: (16 Questions) Indian Penal Code –General Principles & General Exceptions – TORTS: General Principles of Tort, Defences, Joint liability, State liability for Torts; Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

5. IPR & OTHER LAWS: (16 Questions) Copy right Act, 1957; Patents Act, 2005; Environmental Protection Act, 1986; Human Rights, The Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993; Salient features of Information Technology Act, 2000 and Right to Information Act 2005, Research Methodology.

Application Procedure:

  • The application will be made available in their official website: https://cets.apsche.ap.gov.in/   
  • First, click on the Common Entrance Tests (CETS) tab, and then click on the AP LAWCET or AP LAWCET according to the candidate’s choice.
  • Click on the AP LAWCET registration link and check the exam eligibility criteria. 
  • Candidate should have enter his/her basic details, qualification details, preferred law course (5-year LLB, 3-year LLB or LLM), valid mobile number, and email ID. 
  • Now make the payment of registration fee. 
  • After making successful payment, fill the rest of the application form, submit it after review. 
  • Take a printout of the application for future reference. 

Application Fees:

Application Fee for 5-year LLB and 3-year LLB-

For General candidate INR 900, for OBC candidate INR 850 and for SC/ST candidate INR 800.

Application Fee for LLM-

For General candidate INR 1000, for OBC candidate INR 950 and for SC/ST candidate INR 900.

Admit Card:

  • The admit card will be released on the Official Website.
  •  Candidates may download the Hall Ticket by entering his/her registration ID or payment reference ID.
  • Candidates need to carry their admit card with a coloured passport-size photo attached to it to the exam centre on the day of the exam. 
  • Do not carry food, reference materials, and electronic devices to the exam hall.

Results:

  • After the commencement of the exam, the will be declared on their official website – cets.apsche.ap.gov.in 
  • Click on the “Download Rank Card” option and enter your registration ID, qualifying exam’s hall ticket number and date of birth to download your score card or hall ticket.
