MAHARASHTRA CET LAW ENTRANCE EXAM DETAILS

Maharashtra Common Entrance Test – Law or MH CET Law is a state-level law entrance exam which is conducted by the State CET Cell of Maharashtra every year. Through this law entrance exam candidates can get admission into 3-year LLB and 5-year LLB programmes in the various law colleges of Maharashtra. A total of 147 law colleges accept MH CET law scores.

Eligibility Criteria:

5-year integrated law –

  • Candidates must be Indian citizens.
  • The candidate needs to have passed 10+2 or an equivalent exam (including 3-year diploma in engineering)
  • The candidates needs to secure a minimum aggregate of: 45% – General category, 40% – SC/ST, 42% – VJ / DT / NT(A) / NT / O.B.C./ S.B.C. category.
  • Candidate should be at least 20 years old at the time of admission. However, in case of candidates belonging to OBC, SC, ST categories of Maharashtra state, the age limit is 22 years minimum at the time of admission.
  • Candidates who have passed senior secondary or obtained a first-degree certificates through distance education or correspondence method are also eligible for admission.

3 Years LL.B –

  • The candidates must have a graduate degree in any discipline.
  • Candidates appearing for their final year exams can also apply provided they submit the qualifying certificates at the time of admission.

Minimum aggregate required in qualifying exam –

  • For General candidates belonging to Maharashtra (as per domicile certificate) the minimum score is 45%.
  • For SC/ST candidates from Maharashtra the score is 40%.
  • For VJ / DT / NT(A) / NT / O.B.C./ S.B.C. Category belonging to State of Maharashtra the score is 42%.
  • For Candidates from other states (All categories) the score is 45%.

Exam Pattern:

  • The test is conducted in online mode. It’s a computer-based MCQ test. 
  • The candidates must reached on the designated exam centre.
  • The examination duration lasting for 120 minutes (2 hours).
  • The total number of questions are around 150 approximately.
  • Each correct answer usually carries 1 mark.
  • There is no negative marking.

Syllabus:

5 year LL.B –

English: In this section topics may include Vocabulary (Synonyms, Antonyms, and Analogies), Idioms and phrases, one-word substitutions, sentence improvement and rearrangement, English usage errors (common errors, spotting errors, inappropriate usage of words, spelling mistakes etc.)

General Knowledge and Current Affairs: Topics are related to History, Geography, General Science, Economics, Civics, Social Science, and Environment, Current Affairs of the past year, recent events and awareness around the world.

 Legal Aptitude and Legal Reasoning: This section questions may be based on the study of law, research aptitude, and problem-solving ability, Legal prepositions and a set of facts to which the said propositions have to be applied, Some prepositions may not be true in the real sense, candidates will have to assume the truth of these prepositions and answer the question.

Logical Reasoning: The questions may be asked on patterns, logical links and rectify illogical arguments, Variety of logical reasoning questions such as syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies etc.

Mathematics): In this section questions may be came from basic mathematical skills such as profit & loss, speed & distance, time & work, numerical calculations, arithmetic, algebra, mensuration, etc.

3 year LL.B –

English: In this section topics include comprehension passages, grammar, vocabulary, synonyms, antonyms, etc.

General Knowledge and Current Affairs: Topics are related to awareness of current events, both national and international, along with general knowledge topics such as history, geography, economics, general science, civics etc.

Legal Aptitude and Legal Reasoning: This section questions may be based on in the study of law, research aptitude, legal propositions, comprehend legal principles, rules, and their application to given fact situations etc.

Logical Reasoning: The questions may be asked on identify patterns, logical links, rectify illogical arguments includes syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies, etc.

Application Procedure:

  • The exam notification will publishes on their official website: cetcell.mahacet.org.
  • The candidate will have to create an applicant account.
  • In the registration form, enter applicant’s name, father’s name, mother’s name, contact details and other personal details. On successfully entering the information, a new account will be created with a unique login ID.   
  • The candidate will have to next upload a photo and signature as per the specification outlined in the table below.  
  • In this step candidates must fill personal, educational details, with valid contact details. Candidate select the exam centre to take the exam.
  • In the last step of the application process, the MHCET candidate has to be pay the fees for application.

Application Fees:

  • Candidates may pay through online mode: credit card, debit card or net banking.
  • Application Fees for General students (Male, Female, Transgender) is Rs. 800/- only
  • Application Fees for SC, ST, OBC students (Male, Female, and Transgender) is Rs. 600/ only.

Documents to be uploaded:

  • Recent scanned Photograph within 20KB to 50 KB size .jpg format.
  • Scanned Signature within 10KB to 20 KB size .jpg format.
  • Any other documents as required in the time of registration.

Admit Card:

  • The Admit card released a few weeks before the exam date on the official website.
  • Candidates can download the admit card from the official website by logging using the registration id and password.
  • Take a print out of the admit card.
  • It is mandatory to carry the admit card to the exam centre.
  • The candidate needs to check that the details mentioned on the admit card, including the candidate’s name, allotted exam centre. If there is any mistake, get in touch with exam officials and get it rectified at the earliest.

Results:

  • The results will be uploaded on the official website.
  • To check the result candidate should click on the result link given in the notification section.
  • The result will be displayed in the form of a list.
