ALIGARH MUSLIM UNIVERSITY LAW ENTRANCE TEST DETAILS

ALIGARH MUSLIM UNIVERSITY LAW ENTRANCE EXAMINATION:

Legal Education in AMU is more than a century old, it was on the initiative of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, that a three-member committee, consisting of Justice Syed Mahmood, Justice Straight of the Allahabad High court and Arthur Strachey advocate at Allahabad high court was constituted to suggest measures for starting the teaching of Law at the M.A.O. College. On the recommendation of this committee the Law classes started from December 1891. 

Eligibility Criteria:

5 Years LL.B –

  • The candidate needs to have passed 10+2 or an equivalent exam
  • The candidates needs to secure a minimum aggregate of 50%
  • Candidate must not be more than 22 years old at the time of admission.

LL.M-

  • Candidates should have a five-year integrated BA.LLB degree or a three-year LLB degree in the time of admission.
  •  Percentage required minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade from a UGC-recognized educational institution are eligible to apply for the course
  • There is a 5% relaxation of minimum marks for the reserved categories (SC/ST).
  • Candidates who are going to appear in their final qualifying examination of their bachelor degree or waiting for the final year results are also eligible to apply.
  • The applicant must not be more than 27 years as in the year of admission.

Exam Pattern:

  • The test is conducted in offline mode.
  • The candidates must reached on the designated exam centre.
  • The examination duration lasting for 120 minutes (2 hours).
  • The total number of questions are around 100 approximately.
  • Each correct answer usually carries 1 mark.
  • There is no negative marking.

Syllabus:

5 year LL.B –

General English: In this section topics may include Vocabulary (Synonyms, Antonyms, and Analogies), Idioms and phrases, one-word substitutions, sentence improvement and rearrangement, English usage errors (common errors, spotting errors, inappropriate usage of words, spelling mistakes etc.)

Current Affairs: Topics are related to History, Geography, General Science, Economics, Civics, Social Science, and Environment, Current Affairs of the past year, recent events and awareness around the world.

Reasoning: This section questions may be based on the study of law, research aptitude, and problem-solving ability, Legal prepositions and a set of facts to which the said propositions have to be applied, Some prepositions may not be true in the real sense, candidates will have to assume the truth of these prepositions and answer the question.

Aptitude: The questions may be asked on Number System, Percentage, Profit and Loss, Average, Mensuration, Trigonometry, Geometry, Height and Distances, Probability and Algebra

LL.M-

The questions will mainly contains from Jurisprudence, Constitutional Law, Commercial Law, Family Law, Labour Law, Criminal Law and International Law.

Application Procedure:

  • The exam notification will publishes on their official website : https://www.amucontrollerexams.com/
  • Candidates should fill their basic details, educational details and valid email id with mobile number and submit the application form for the AMU entrance exam OR CUET exam in online mode at the official website.
  • The candidates also had to pay the application fee as per their courses.  

Application Fees:

  • Candidates may pay through online mode: credit card, debit card or net banking.
  • The application fees will be mentioned in the website.

Documents Required:

  • Date of Birth Certificate/High School Certificate
  • Mark sheets of qualifying examinations
  • Degree/ Provisional Degree Certificate for LL.M admission
  • 10th and 12th Mark sheets and Certificates
  • Valid Caste/ Category Certificate (if applicable) 
  • Transfer/ Migration and Character Certificate from the Institution last attended
  • Five Coloured Photographs of the candidate.
  • NOC/ Relieving order from current employer in case working in any Central/ State/ Public Sector/ Autonomous organization.

Admit Card:

  • The Admit card released a few weeks before the exam date on the official website.
  • Candidates can download the admit card from the official website by logging using the registration id and password.
  • Take a print out of the admit card.
  • It is mandatory to carry the admit card to the exam centre.

Results:

  • The results will be uploaded on the official website.
  • To check the result candidate should click on the result link given in the notification section.
